Far-Western Referral Hospital Upgraded to 300 Beds, Process to Become a Central Hospital Underway

Nepal Health News, Kathmandu – The Sudurpashchim Provincial Government has proposed to the central government to upgrade Seti Provincial Hospital into a central hospital.

The province has officially communicated with the Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers to upgrade the existing 200-bed hospital to a 300-bed facility.

According to sources from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Health and Population has been directed to proceed with the upgrade and transformation into a central hospital. If Seti Provincial Hospital attains central hospital status, there will be a total of three central hospitals in the Far-Western Province. Currently, Dadeldhura Hospital and the proposed Geta Medical College Hospital are under central hospital jurisdiction.

Dr. Krishna Paudel, Chief of the Policy, Planning, and Monitoring Division at the ministry, stated that discussions regarding the upgrade to 300 beds are ongoing. "A proposal to upgrade to 300 beds has been received," he said. "It is still under discussion, and no final decision has been made yet."
