Expanding Services at Galkot Municipality Hospital

Nepal Health News, Baglung – Galkot Municipality Hospital has expanded its services along with its infrastructure. The hospital is preparing to launch physiotherapy services, and additional physical infrastructure is being developed for this purpose.

The hospital's plans were made after receiving a commitment for assistance in operating the physiotherapy service from the Galkot Society UK. The hospital is also planning to provide accommodation for doctors within the premises. This year, with the support of the municipal and provincial governments, the hospital will construct four additional rooms at a cost of 4 million Nepali Rupees.

Currently, the hospital is operating various services, including video X-ray, ultrasound, laboratory, outpatient department (OPD), maternity services, and post-mortem services. In addition, physiotherapy services are also in the works, according to the hospital's chief, Dr. Rajesh Poudel.

The hospital has provided services to more than 30,000 patients within a year. Since the start of surgical services in the current fiscal year, 16 operations have been performed between the months of Ashoj and Falgun. Dr. Poudel mentioned that the municipality has provided skilled doctors, midwives, equipment, and infrastructure management.

The municipality has supported the construction of infrastructure, while the Gandaki Provincial Government has assisted with the purchase of materials, equipment, and training, Dr. Poudel explained. After completing the infrastructure and obtaining necessary materials, the Family Health Division granted permission for the hospital to begin operation services on 16th of Bhadra.

Patients from Galkot, Tarakhola, Badigad Municipality, and the highway area have also been receiving services from the municipal hospital. The hospital’s records show that daily, between 150 to 180 patients come to the hospital for treatment. Locals say that the addition of ambulance services and post-mortem facilities has reduced the hassle of traveling to the district capital, Baglung Bazaar, for medical care.
