11 Private Hospitals in Barhathwa Operating Against Standards Ordered to Shut Down Immediately

Nepal Health News, Sarlahi.Madhesh Province Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh has ordered the closure of 11 private hospitals and polyclinics operating in Barhathwa Bazaar, Sarlahi. The directive came after these health institutions were found operating in violation of standards during an inspection in the Barhathwa market. This market is considered a major commercial hub in the southwestern region.

Hospitals such as Sankat Mochan Hospital, Sanjivani Hospital, Happy Hospital, Sarlahi Golden Hospital, Venus Hospital, Hanumant Hospital, Barhathwa Navjeevan Hospital, and four other polyclinics, some of which are not even registered, are now set to be shut down.

According to Santosh Thakur, a public health officer at the Ministry of Health and Population of Madhesh Province, letters have been sent to all 11 non-compliant health institutions instructing them to close immediately and only resume operations after completing registration and other required processes.

Chief Minister Singh visited Barhathwa for inspection right after an incident surfaced on Tuesday evening, where a patient at Golden Hospital, shortly after being admitted, was charged an excessive bill, leading to protests and tension.
