Nepal Health News, Bijuwar:The five-story building under construction at Pyuthan Hospital has been left abandoned for the past six months. The construction, which was contracted to Grand Design Construction based in Nepalgunj at a cost of NPR 213 million, has currently come to a halt.

The construction work, aimed at expanding the hospital from 15 to 50 beds, was started on Chaitra 7, 2080 (March 20, 2024), with a target to complete it by the end of Jestha 2083 (mid-June 2026). However, according to hospital chief Dr. Manoj Acharya, there has been little to no progress so far.

“We had informed the concerned authorities back in Falgun 2081 (February/March 2025) that there were problems in the construction,” he said, “but the contractor Ganesh Bhusal has become unreachable.”

The structure, which was to be earthquake-resistant, disabled-friendly, child-friendly, and include a lift and underground parking, has been left in limbo, causing concern among the locals.

Local resident Labkumar Adhikari expressed fears that hopes for development might once again be left unfulfilled. Located in Bijuwar, Pyuthan Municipality-4, the hospital spans over 31 ropanis of land and has been providing healthcare services since 2045 B.S. (1988 A.D.).
