Nepal Health News, Kathmandu: Minister for Health and Population, Pradeep Paudel, has urged officials from the UAE — one of the main labor destinations for Nepali workers — to assist in improving healthcare services for Nepali migrant workers.
During a courtesy meeting in Abu Dhabi with Mansour Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Chairman of the Department of Health, Minister Paudel expressed his hope for cooperation in ensuring the health and wellbeing of Nepali workers. He also sought support from the UAE government in the initiatives taken by Nepal to safeguard workers' health.
Minister Paudel highlighted Nepal’s aim to advance its health sector through digital technology and implement a universal health insurance system. He further requested support for upgrading and expanding kidney dialysis centers in Nepal, as well as for organ transplantation services.
The Chairman of the UAE Department of Health expressed readiness to support the development of Nepal's health sector, emphasizing the need for a formal agreement between the two countries to ensure mutual cooperation and collaboration.
He praised the contributions of Nepali workers in the UAE and stated that the UAE is willing to invest in Nepal’s health sector. However, he stressed the importance of Nepal creating a favorable environment and legal framework to facilitate such investment.
Nepali Ambassador Tej Bahadur Chhetri was also present at the meeting. According to the Nepali Embassy, Minister Paudel will be attending the Nepal Festival on Sunday as the chief guest.
