Blue Cross Hospital Introduces Third-Generation Microwave Ablation Technology for the First Time in Nepal

A Safe, Simple, and Effective Treatment for Serious Conditions Like Adenomyosis

Nepal Health News, Kathmandu:Tripureshwor-based Blue Cross Hospital, which has been making notable achievements in the field of gynecology and obstetrics, has introduced third-generation microwave ablation technology for the first time in Nepal. This new method, led by gynecology and obstetrics specialist Dr. Rangina Laikanbam, has been found to be particularly effective in treating conditions such as adenomyosis and fibroids (tumors of the uterus).

This technique uses electromagnetic waves to precisely generate heat within the body to remove unwanted tissue. Not only does this help preserve the uterus, but it also ensures future fertility.

According to Dr. Rangina, many women have been experiencing infertility due to adenomyosis. She explained, "Often, despite multiple embryo transfers, pregnancy does not occur due to adenomyosis. We've seen very promising results after using third-generation microwave ablation in such cases." Adenomyosis is found to be common among women in Nepal and can lead to uterine shrinkage, resulting in infertility.dr-Rangina-Microwave-1745243579.JPG

Advanced Technology with Minimal Pain and No Incisions

This newly introduced technology does not require abdominal incisions or major surgery. “Using this method, we can treat the uterus through the vaginal canal using transvaginal sonography or a small laparoscopic device while observing the procedure on a screen,” Dr. Rangina said.

This technology was developed by Dr. Xiaomin Gam from China. He has put in place a system that allows the equipment to be provided only after verifying the doctor’s capabilities. Dr. Rangina had been actively working for the past six months to bring this technology to Nepal.

11 Years of Experience, 6 Years Dedicated to Infertility Treatment

Dr. Rangina has been working in laparoscopic surgery and women’s health for the past 11 years. For the last six years, she has been focusing specifically on treating infertility. “Adenomyosis not only causes physical pain but also leads to severe mental and emotional stress when left untreated,” she shared.

Eliminating the Need to Travel Abroad for Treatment

According to Blue Cross Hospital's Medical Director Dr. Prajwalman Shrestha, this technology eliminates the need to travel abroad for adenomyosis treatment. “We have now made this less painful, safe, and quick-recovery technology available right here in Nepal,” he said.

Conclusion

The introduction of this cutting-edge treatment service at Blue Cross Hospital marks a significant milestone in women’s healthcare in Nepal. Women suffering from adenomyosis or fibroids will now have access to effective, safe, and affordable treatment.
